This two-day workshop is suitable for those with experience with their sewing machine
Workshop Details
Moving on from previous Autumn and Summer field mixed-media landscapes, join Sarah to create a new piece based on iconic Bluebell woods to herald Spring. We will combine paint and fabrics to create your own landscape art. The tutor will provide a basic fabric kit to get you started but it’s always good to add to it from your own stashes.
Skills / Techniques Covered
We will use acrylics to create your sky and then using different textiles and various stitching techniques – straight stitching, free motion machine embroidery - you will create your Bluebell patch and then further embellish the pieces with hand stitching, embroidery and beads. You will create either a long portrait version or a wide narrow landscape.
Materials
Materials are not included in the booking fee. Some materials will be provided by the tutor. The approximate cost of these will
be £15, payable to the tutor during the workshop.
Students - please bring with you:
The tutor will supply the basic fabrics you will need but you may wish to bring some fabrics in an spring/bluebell wood palette which can be added to provide shape or texture. These could include silks, hessian, velvet, hand dyed felts, organzas – you will only tiny amounts, so please check your fabric stashes first!
If you have your own acrylic paints and wish to bring them, please feel free – but please do not buy any specially, as the tutor will have them.
We advise that you do not buy any materials required for a course more than two weeks in advance, because occasionally a course is cancelled due to low enrolment.
