Wed 8th February 10am - 12pm
(UK timings)
This LivePlus™ online workshop is suitable for students of all abilities. You needn't have the materials ready whilst watching this online demonstration – it is a time to watch, ask and learn.
Workshop details
Using tiny townscapes and looking at the work of Paul Klee for a bit of inspiration, we will explore simple printing on fabric through a variety of techniques.
Starting with loose washes of colour, we will create a base layer to work on, adding subtle pattern elements to create interest. We will explore some easy techniques for printing using constructed card plates and simple homemade stamps. We'll then use our printing plates to print stylized buildings, bridges, archways, rooflines – all the things you might come across in a tiny town!
Karen will demonstrate some basic hand-stitches that can be used to embellish and enhance your fabric compositions…. or you can use dimensional paints and fabric pens, if stitching isn’t your thing.
A relaxed, creative workshop in which all of the techniques can be used on paper as well as fabric. There's no experience necessary, and you don’t need to be able to draw!
Specific skills you will learn at the workshop

Additional Information
All Ardington ONLINE classes and talks are accompanied by their own online blackboard. Helpful and easy to use, they enable students and tutors to share resources, ideas and photos with each other – just as you would in a classroom environment.
Karen will offer personalised critique / feedback via the blackboard for any work uploaded by students within thirty days of the class ending. You will be sent the link to access your blackboard in the week before your class begins and will have access for at least sixty days after the class ends.
After the live session has finished on Zoom, we will share the link to view the recording on the blackboard. You can watch the recording as many times as you like for sixty days.
We suggest that you do not buy any specialist materials more than one week in advance as, occasionally, a class may be cancelled due to low enrolment.
