Weaving this contemporary design oval basket is suitable for those who have made round willow baskets before and want to try something new. A roomy basket, it can be used for storage or with a strap while out shopping , gathering apples, vegetables or mushroom foraging. The base is made on a pre-dried oval willow hoop – a Catalan style of basket making.

Materials
Materials are not included in the booking fee. All materials will be provided by the tutor. The approximate cost of these will be £ 20 payable to the tutor during the workshop

- Catalan oval base on a hoop
- Chasing three rod waling on base and upset
- French randing or open window randed
- Chasing three rod wale
- Trac border or Rod border for those with experience
- Riveting a canvas strap

- Feel free to bring any basketry tools you have….your own bodkin, snips, secateurs and rapping iron
