Workshop details
This workshop will show you how to sketch the seaside and coastlines of Britain with pen and watercolour wash. Using photographs as reference, you will be shown how to paint beaches, cliffs, coastlines and small boats. By the end of the two days, you will have produced a number of sketches.

We advise that you do not buy any materials required for a course more than two weeks in advance, because occasionally a course is cancelled due to low enrolment.

- washes
- wet in wet
- using a waterproof sketching pen
- how to mix the colours of the sea
Materials
Materials are not included in the booking fee. The items you will need to bring with you are listed below:
Students - please bring with you:
- A few sheets or a pad of A4 or equivalent size 140lb (300gsm) cold pressed (NOT surface) watercolour paper
- Watercolour paint in either tubes or pans. If bringing tubes, then you will need a palette.
- Basic set of recommended colours: Ultramarine Blue, Cobalt Blue (optional), Cadmium Yellow Pale, Burnt Sienna, Raw Sienna, Alizarin Crimson
- One size 10 or 12 and one size 2 or 4 round watercolour brush
- One black waterproof sketching pen size 02, 03, 04 or 05 - I recommend one of the following makes:
- Unipin, Sakura Pigma Micron, Edding Profipen, Faber Castell Pitt Artists Pen or Staedtler
- Tissues
- Jam jar
- Eraser
- 2B or 4B pencil
- Pencil sharpener
