This LivePlus™ online workshop is suitable for absolute beginners and those looking to refresh their skills.  This is a work-along workshop and so we would encourage students to have their materials to hand, ready to participate live during the class.

Workshop details
The perfect introduction into the wonderful world of quilling, this 2.5 hour taster session will teach you the basic techniques of this mindful craft, opening a whole world of possibilities!

A lovely way to unwind and leave the world behind for a little while, we will be making some simple and really effective designs, perfect for making cards and gift tags.

Quilling is a wonderfully relaxing paper craft, which uses thin strips of paper.  We curl and shape the paper strips in various ways, putting them together and arranging them on their edges, creating a wonderful effect of colour, light and shadow.

We will take things right from the beginning to set you up for success, and will cover all you need to know to get started. I’ll take you through the tools, glues and types of paper to get the best results.

We will make several designs during the workshop, and I will be making in real time along with you. As well as everything we cover in the workshop itself, you will be able to create so many more designs from these techniques too, and I will make sure you are suitably inspired to carry on!

Specific skills you will learn at the workshop
  • How to use a slotted quilling tool
  • Making from closed loose coils - marquises shapes, teardrop shapes
  • Open coils
  • Ring coils
  • Basic on-edge quilling

For students sourcing their own materials, you will need:
  • Slotted quilling tool – recommended fine-tip
  • Multi-coloured quilling papers 5mm & 3mm widths
  • Blank cards & gift tags
  • Hi-Tack Extra Sticky Glue
  • Fine-tip glue applicator bottle, 15ml

All students will need a pair of small paper scissors, and you may also like to have a pair of pointed tweezers to hand, although these are not essential.

Additional Information
All Ardington ONLINE classes and talks are accompanied by their own online blackboard. Helpful and easy to use, they enable students and tutors to share resources, ideas and photos with each other – just as you would in a classroom environment.

Rachel will offer personalised critique / feedback via the blackboard for any work uploaded by students within thirty days of the class ending. You will be sent the link to access your blackboard in the week before your class begins and will have access for at least sixty days after the class ends.

After the live session has finished on Zoom, we will share the link to view the recording on the blackboard.  You can watch the recording as many times as you like for sixty days.

We suggest that you do not buy any specialist materials more than one week in advance as, occasionally, a class may be cancelled due to low enrolment.
