Course details
This course takes you step by step through the process of drawing, gilding, and painting a beautiful Victorian style Versal letter.
These letters are brimming with garden florals, vines, leaves and even some bugs and butterflies. When you learn the basics of how to design these letters, you can vary the styles and add anything you can imagine to them.
You will be amazed at how these letters come to life with gold leaf and watercolour and may even want to try your hand at adding a little garden creature to your letter. There are endless possibilities to explore in these whimsical letters.
Specific skills you will learn at the workshop
- How to design your own unique letters
- How to gild with 23K gold leaf
- How to embellish letterforms with pointed pen flourishes and watercolour
Additional Information
All Ardington ONLINE classes and talks are accompanied by their own online blackboard. Helpful and easy to use, they enable students and tutors to share resources, ideas and photos with each other – just as you would in a classroom environment.
Heather will offer feedback via the blackboard for any work uploaded by students within thirty days of the class ending. You will be sent the link to access your blackboard in the week before your class begins and will have access for at least sixty days after the class ends.
After the live session has finished on Zoom, we will share the link to view the recording on the blackboard. You can watch the recording as many times as you like for sixty days.
We suggest that you do not buy any specialist materials more than one week in advance as, occasionally, a class may be cancelled due to low enrolment.
*The tutor feedback section of our follow up session is not recorded. This is to ensure that you have an opportunity to share your work without feeling self-conscious about being recorded. Please join us live for this session if you can – even if you chose the ‘recording only’ option above. Rest assured that any additional tutor demonstrations will be recorded and shared.
