This family friendly online workshop is designed to connect families through creative projects. The £25 booking cost includes access for up to 3 devices, allowing you to join the live, online class with your children, grandchildren, nieces or nephews, even if they cannot be with you in person.
This fabulous project is suitable for adults, teenagers, older children, and younger children with assistance. Anyone aged 13 or under must be supervised by an adult.
Workshop details
Influenced by the work of printmaker Mark Hearld, this is a fun, family friendly, workshop in which Karen will be creating quirky printed hanging birds that can be used as decorations or fancy greetings cards. Make your own collage papers & stamps then layer, cut, stick and embellish to create something colourful and unique.
We will start by creating layered printed backgrounds using acrylic paint and found objects. Working from the range of templates provided, we’ll cut out our bird shapes then add layers of collage and paint.
You'll then make your own stamps from polystyrene, vegetables and sponges, and use these to print directly onto your bird shape – or separately, to be stuck on as individual elements.
We will then embellish our bird further with pens, glitter and metallic paint or foils. The final touches are achieved with patterned paper on the underside of the wings and tail and a ribbon to hang it by. There you have it……your own quirky hanging bird!
A great project for all ages from 5 to 105! Processes can be adapted and simplified for younger participants, and the more experienced can have fun creating a lovely layered printed bird….or even a whole flock!
Specific skills you will learn at the workshop
Equipment & materials list
Materials are not included in the course fee. All the materials and equipment you will need are listed below.
This list is for guidance only - you can improvise and source your own materials, either in advance or once you have seen the LivePlus™ workshop, giving you maximum flexibility to choose how you would like to approach this craft.
Although there is no expectation that you will complete a full quirky bird during the demo, it might be fun for younger participants to have a go with some of the elements as we go along. Karen will be providing templates for the birds before the workshop so you can be ready to go.
After the demo you will be sent a link to the recording, which you can watch as many times as you wish for thirty days.
