This LivePlus™ online workshop is ideal for those with some calligraphic experience.
Workshop details
Explore the creative potential of using gold, real and imitation, to enhance your calligraphic designs. Making gold lettering, writing onto gold backgrounds, and combining the two effects, will provide lots of ideas for future projects.
For writing in gold, we will explore what paints work in the dip pen and which glues are best for gold leaf when you want sharp gold lettering. Writing onto gold involves preparing interesting surfaces, mostly using gold acrylic paints but also gold leaf and a combination of both.
We will work towards a project that aims to combine gold writing and writing onto gold surfaces or sticking to one or the other – your choice.
Specific skills you will learn at the workshop
You will develop skills in achieving sharp writing in a variety of media – gouaches and glues, plus how to lay acrylic paints effectively in layers, how to prepare the surface for sharp black or coloured writing on top, and ability to create various decorative extras for future projects.
