In this two-week course, Jonathan will teach you how to paint colourful birds with watercolour pencil. Using photos as reference, he will show you how to draw and paint with the watercolour pencil to achieve bright, fresh colours and the textures of feathers. You will complete a different painting each week.

You needn't have the materials ready whilst watching the live demonstration – the demo session is a time to watch, ask and learn. After the demo you will be sent a link to the recording, which you can watch as many times as you wish for thirty days.

- A4 pad or a couple small sheets 'Not' surface watercolour paper (‘Not’ refers to the texture of the paper and is also known as cold pressed or Bockingford paper)
- Alternatively you can work on hot pressed, smooth watercolour paper (but this is more difficult to paint on)
- A size 6 or 8, and a size 2, round watercolour brush
- A set of good quality watercolour pencils, either Derwent, Faber Castell, Caran Dache, Daler Rowney or WH Smith, or can buy the pencils individually, selecting colours to suit ie: blue, yellow, a few greens, brown, black, white etc.
- Pot of water
- Tissues
- 2B and 4B pencils
- Eraser
- Pencil sharpener
