Class details
Start off the new year with a new skill! Part of our 'Printing without a Press' series, this two-hour beginners class will look at the fundamentals of linoprinting. Karen will cover all of the basics; tools, materials, elements of design, different cutting techniques, and inking & printing in black & white.
Karen will show you that linoprinting is a great technique to do at home…easy to learn, using minimal equipment, with a whole host of variations available once you’ve got the basics.
Forget the blunt tools and tough lino of school days and enjoy the process of linoprinting with soft-cut lino and a whole range of approaches. Perfect for printing your own cards, wall art, fabric etc.
No need to work along with Karen during this class - just sit back, watch & learn. If you'd like to explore this subject further, check out our 'Linoprinting in Colour' and 'Linoprinting: Lovely Layers' classes too.
Specific skills you will learn
- A range of cutting techniques
- Materials & tools for getting the best results when hand-printing
- Basic inking & printing techniques
All Ardington ONLINE classes and talks are accompanied by their own online blackboard. Helpful and easy to use, they enable students and tutors to share resources, ideas and photos with each other – just as you would in a classroom environment.
Karen will offer feedback via the blackboard for any work uploaded by students within thirty days of the class ending. You will be sent the link to access your blackboard in the week before your class begins and will have access for at least sixty days after the class ends.
After the live session has finished on Zoom, we will share the link to view the recording on the blackboard. You can watch the recording as many times as you like for sixty days.
We suggest that you do not buy any specialist materials more than one week in advance as, occasionally, a class may be cancelled due to low enrolment.
