Fabrics for the bee collage
- Yellow
- Orange
- Purple
- Black
- Grey
  The more variety of patterns, the better—florals, organic shapes, and flowing designs work particularly well.
Fabrics can be sourced from anywhere you choose. I often use designs by Kaffe Fassett and Philip Jacobs (25 cm of each design is plenty). You may also wish to use fabric scraps you already own. The tutor will bring a selection of fabric scraps that you are welcome to include.

For inspiration and purchasing, you may like to browse Cotton Patch, though any supplier is fine.

Background fabric
- One contrasting piece, approximately 50 × 50 cm, to appliqué the bee onto

Threads
- Matching the fabric colours listed above, plus white
- OR embroidery threads if you plan to hand stitch

Sewing machine
- With free-motion embroidery foot
- You must be confident using your own machine and attaching the foot
If you choose to hand stitch, please bring suitable needles. Hand stitching will not be taught, though free-motion embroidery will be demonstrated.

Scissors and spare machine needles

Fusing supplies
- Bondaweb (approximately 1 metre), or
- A glue stick (e.g. Pritt)
  A roll of Bondaweb will be available to purchase if needed.

What the Tutor Will Provide

A backing piece of calico for appliqué
(You are also welcome to sketch your own bee if you prefer)

We advise that you do not buy any materials required for a workshop more than two weeks in advance, because occasionally a workshop is cancelled.
