This ONLINE class is an advanced class, designed to follow on from The Alphabet Garden, but guides are provided to include all skill levels.
Pretty as a Peacock is an opulent letter design class that extends beyond the basics of drawn, painted and illuminated letters. The class builds on ideas from The Alphabet Garden and integrates a beautiful and shimmering peacock into the letter design.
We will gather inspiration from historic Illuminated Manuscripts of the Medieval and Renaissance eras as well as well as influences from Art Nouveau.
There are shimmering painting techniques that can be used to bring your peacock initial to life. Students will draw, gild, and paint their unique letters through detailed instruction. The letter is painted with an ornamental inlay technique while the peacock uses both wet and dry brush watercolour to create the illusion of the iridescence.
