Making Sense
Wed 11th March
2pm - 3:15pm UK Time
Tutor: Martin Beek
Bookings Close: 25 February
Martin’s talk looks at how artists choose to depict the senses within painting. Whilst engaging us visually, many paintings lead us to a world of smell, touch, and sound in very subtle ways.
Across the ages, artists have been fascinated by the association between what we see, hear, touch, and smell and how we understand deep resonances within nature.
In this talk, Martin examines paintings that are sensual and thought provoking, leading to a world far beyond the canvas itself. He also devotes a few slides to the so called "sixth sense."
Martin will provide a list of helpful books and links to further explore on a PDF following each of the talks via the class information page.
