Exploring Acrylics: Marvellous Meadows
Wed 14th January
10am - 12pm UK Time
Tutor: Karen Carter
Bookings Close: 7 January
This class is suitable for students of all abilities.
Let’s banish the January blues by injecting some colour and cheer into the dark days of winter with an exuberant flourish of flowers. Blooming marvellous!
Taking inspiration from Van Gogh and Gustav Klimt right up to the work of contemporary artists, we will produce a joyful field of flowers using an impressionistic, semi-abstract approach of simplified shapes, energetic mark-making, and lots of lovely layering to create an acrylic mixed media piece of work.
We will start with some colour-mixing and a few (slightly unorthodox!) techniques for depicting flowers. Then we'll use these warm-up exercises to create a colourful impression of a garden or meadow using a variety of different media, tools, & techniques. We will paint, collage, layer, and spatter to combine a range of exciting approaches.
No experience necessary and you don’t need to be able to draw – this is not a botanical painting class! Just grab a big apron and your brightest tubes of paint and let’s have some fun.
