A Step Beyond Realism in Acrylics
Sat 13th June
10am - 4pm
Tutor: Kevin Scully
This workshop is suitable for those with some experience using acrylics who wish to improve, as well as for more advanced painters.
Have you ever thought you’d like to take your painting a small step away from realism without venturing into pure abstraction? In this workshop, we will explore that area of painting where the image remains recognisable without being too literal. We will endeavour to create work that is both enigmatic and atmospheric.
Participants will take their first steps in resisting the temptation to paint exactly what they see, instead discovering more expressive and evocative ways of creating paintings. This course is suitable for those with some painting experience.
Subject matter will be varied and may include landscapes, seascapes, and still life. A selection of the tutor’s paintings, along with images by other artists, will be on display for inspiration. All reference material will be provided.
