Printing: A Collection of Crows
Wed 6th May
10am - 12pm UK Time
Tutor: Karen Carter
Bookings Close: 22 April
Explore the wonderful world of mixed media as we print, transfer and collage our way through a curious collection of crows!! We’ll create printing plates from everyday items such as food packaging and use it to make monoprints and relief prints of our feathered friends.
Once we’ve made our plates using simple techniques and tools, either to your own designs or from the templates provided, we’ll go through different inking methods to create a variety of effects.
Then the exciting bit – getting your prints on paper – a metal spoon, a bit of muscle power (you’re going to be the printing press!) and tips on how to achieve a sharp image.
We will print on a variety of plain and patterned papers in neutral colours to create collaged backgrounds. The prints can be further enhanced gold detail and combined with simple image transfers.
These experiments and samples can be used as small individual pieces of art (perfect for cards), combined to make larger mixed media panels or collated into a concertina book.
A fun and versatile process that can be done at home with a minimum of specialist materials – no experience needed.
