This ONLINE class is suitable for students of all abilities.
 

Spend the morning creating a still-life fabric collage using simple embroidery, applique, and darning techniques. Inspired by traditional still-life artists such as Georgio Morandi and Vincent Van Gogh we will use everyday objects, houseplants, and flowers as a starting point for our designs.
 

Your tutor, Janice Botterill, will also demonstrate how to draft simple paper templates and transfer these to your backing fabric. We will explore approaches and strategies for composition, colour combination and ways to incorporate prints, pattern and embellishments to create unique and personal pieces.
 

Janice prefers to use re-purposed, thrifted and domestic textiles in her work and would encourage you to shop your cupboards, wardrobe and sewing kit for supplies. You may, of course, choose to purchase specifics fabrics - please see the materials list for guidance.
