  • This class is suitable for beginners & those with some experience.  It is the perfect follow on class from our Getting Started with Acrylics class.

Explore ways of using your acrylics to mimic the lush buttery brushmarks and vibrant colour palettes of the group of artists known as The Fauves (Wild Beasts!) – we will be looking at the work of Henri Matisse, Andre Derain and Maurice de Vlaminck for inspiration as we seek to create bold and bright works of art!

We will look at how to mix colours and control & balance a vibrant palette, along with the use of tone and contrast to turn the volume up to 11 in your pieces of work!

We will explore how to create the rich effects of oil paint used by these artists - using various mediums and different types of brushes to create a rich lively image.  We will bulk up the paint to make it thick and buttery and look at the use of varnishes to enrich the colours and give a satin/gloss finish to your work.

No experience needed, just a big apron and a willingness to ‘have a go’ – work along with the tutor for parts of the session if you want to.
