Tutor: Janina Maher
Bookings Close: 24 June
This class is suitable for students of all abilities
A gel plate is a perfect surface for making monoprints and there are a whole raft of different techniques we can use. Whether you would like a learn some more gel plate printing techniques, have a gel plate and never used it, or have no idea what gel plate printing is but would like to find out, then you are very welcome on this workshop.
Taking nature as the theme, Janina will demonstrate how to make a series of monoprints using a gel plate, and will introduce ideas for layering and also for working back into some of the prints to make more finished pieces using POSCA pens.
She will then demonstrate several techniques for making prints including:
- Printing with leaves, grasses and feathers
- Printing with vegetables
- Making your own foam stamps
- Making your own stencils and masks
- Combining masks and stencils
- Mark making techniques
Be prepared to experiment and you will quickly make a stack of unique prints!
You are welcome to work along or sit back, watch the demo, and practice the techniques after the workshop. During the class Janina will do a quick recap of caring for tools, and talk about suitable paints and papers to use.
