This class is open to all skill levels but some experience in a pointed pen script is recommended.

Gracious Moves is a special course, designed by Heather Held, to introduce delicate flourishes to your pointed pen script.
 

Influenced by the graceful letters found in late 18th Century and early 19th century exemplars of Italian, French, Spanish and English Roundhand Scripts, this is not your typical written alphabet course.
 

The aim of the class is to practice the flow and movement of flourished script letters. It will provide a foundation for students who want to begin adding flourished movements to their favourite roundhand script. The letter flourishes will incorporate influences from our European exemplars with special emphasis in Italian Hand and English Roundhand. Final touches of external foliate flourishes can be added to this delicate script which are perfect for envelope addressing, cards and calligraphic artwork.
 

The assignments and practice exercises will help you to refine your style of writing while gaining confidence with flourished strokes. We hope the class will leave you with a lighter touch with the pen and greater appreciation of the beauty of European Script Hands.
