    Join us as we welcome new tutor Ruihan Zhang to the Ardington family.  In this five-part series, we will learn the basics of Chinese meticulous painting (gongbi) which is characterised by its fine line drawing and elegant colouring.
     

    The course syllabus includes:

    • Looking at different genres of Chinese painting
    • Getting familiar with using tools in Chinese painting
    • How to apply ink and pigments
    • Various techniques to make brushstrokes
    • Techniques to frame a painting
       

    In the first two weeks, Ruihan will show you how to draw a good line and apply colour.  For the remainder of the course, we will apply what we’ve learned, workig towards the completion of a final piece.  Learning from works from Chen Hongshou 陈洪绶, a master in the Ming Dynasty, all students will complete a painting of narcissus.
     

    This class forms part of our STUDY programme; a range of longer courses, running over a number of weeks, exploring subjects in greater depth.  Combining tutor-led live classes with elements of self-study, these courses are designed to stretch and challenge you, whilst maintaining the small & friendly learning environment we are known for.
