Portraits in Watercolour is a two-part class with Jonathan Newey designed to guide artists of all levels through the art of capturing a human portrait using watercolour paints.
After tracing the image down, students will learn techniques such as facial proportions, skin tones, and brush control. The second sessions builds on these skills, introducing advanced concepts like expressive details, layering for depth, and achieving lifelike textures.
This is an ideal course to learn how to use the fluidity of watercolour to paint skin tones and skin colour, and how to produce a portrait in an impressionistic style. By the end of the second week you will have produced one portrait.
