This class is suitable for students of all abilities
Wellbeing work-alongs offer the perfect opportunity to take the pressure off, slow down, and indulge in a bit of ‘you’ time. These stripped back sessions are a step away from our traditional jam-packed classes; there'll be no handouts and, more importantly, any homework is voluntary!
The aim of our 'Simple Stitches' series is to learn or revisit simple embroidery stitches, work slowly by hand, and enjoy the process.
We will start with a brief introduction, followed by a ‘show and sew’ demonstration of couching and appliqué where threads and fabrics are attached to a base fabric to create outlines and areas of interest and colour. Janice will show you examples of these techniques and how she has used and developed this approach to build interest in her textile pieces.
All you need to begin your unique stitched sampler is a needle, some thread, a pair of scissors, and time.
This session is suitable for all levels of experience and as we work alongside each other, Janice will share images of her own work and contemporary textile artists who continue the tradition of embroidery and needlework in new and exciting ways.
