This class is suitable for those with some basic experience. (The class will not be suitable for complete beginners - we plan to run the beginners classes again next year - please let us know if you are interested.)

Part Six is all about pattern using colour! It is an add on course to the Introduction to Twining – Parts One, Two and Three. It is not essential to have taken Parts Four and Five.

The first of the two classes will focus on generating patterns with two colours worked together. So that the pattern can be achieved quickly Mary will show you how to set up a sample as a tube. This course will not be driven by form, that can be applied later. Setting up the colours in the right places is important and an essential will be how to join in two threads of different colours at the same time. The patterns will weave themselves with very little intervention once set up, which is magical. Patterns covered will be horizontal stripes, chasing spirals, vertical stripes, and checkerboard.

The second class will take the idea of working with two colours to the next level by using the twist the make more complex blocks of colour, zig zags, and directional twists. Mary will demonstrate a three-strand twine in one colour and mixed colours. This can add more coloured patterns with a raised surface. To finish we will learn how to play with the chasing spirals to create a many coloured effect.
