Wellbeing work-alongs offer the perfect opportunity to take the pressure off, slow down, and indulge in a bit of ‘you’ time. These stripped back sessions are a step away from our traditional jam-packed classes; there'll be no handouts and, more importantly, any homework is voluntary!
The aim of our 'Simple Stitches' series is to learn or revisit simple embroidery stitches, work slowly by hand, and enjoy the process.
Following a brief introduction and ‘show and sew’ demonstration of running, back, and stem stitch, Janice will show you how she has used and developed these useful drawing and outline stitches in her own work to create textile collages of all shapes and sizes.
All you need to begin your unique stitched sampler is a needle, some thread, a pair of scissors, and time.
This session is suitable for all levels of experience and as we work alongside each other, Janice will share images of her own work and contemporary textile artists who continue the tradition of embroidery and needlework in new and exciting ways.
The following classes in the series will be:
- Edges
- Filling
- Knots & Crosses
- Couching & Applique
