This class is suitable for beginners and those with some experience
Join Samira to explore tessellating eightfold patterns from the Alhambra in Spain, learning the multiple outcomes we can create when we vary angle, shape, detail, and repetition.
We'll begin with a blank sheet of paper and draw a series of lines and circles to construct the underlying grid with a compass and straight edge. This allows us to trace 5 different repeating units of pattern from the one underlying grid.
We will then transfer and tessellate the pattern seamlessly on watercolour paper to create a larger artwork. In the second week of the class we will concentrate on colour; completing our patterns using a contemporary approach to watercolours, gouache, metallic paints, pencils & pens.
