Concertina Book with Wraparound Cover
Thurs 11th September
10am - 12pm UK Time
Tutor: Janina Maher
Bookings Close: Fri 22nd August
This class is suitable for students of all abilities
This variation on a concertina book is a brand new book structure, designed by Janina. So come along and be one of the first people to make one!
We will start with the messy part - using acrylic paint to decorate papers that will be used for the covers. We will then move onto the clean part, initially trimming and folding paper to size for the inside concertina. We will join the sections together with hinges to make a long strip.
After that we will prepare the covers, using bookcloth to make a flexible spine. We will then add the elastic close and the final stage is to glue the concertina block into the cover.
You are welcome to join in with decorating your paper for the covers. Due to the drying times of the stages of constructing the book, these steps will be best viewed first, and then followed in your own time after the workshop.
There will be comprehensive step by step instructions made available before the workshop, which you may find useful to print out before the workshop.
If you are also taking Janina’s workshop on October 22 Colour Paint and Pattern concertina, then you can use the concertina book that you make on this workshop!
