This class is suitable for students of all abilities
 

Do you have a stash of papers just waiting to be used? Old prints or discarded paint swatches, pages torn from books and magazines, lovely decorative papers you haven't found a use for yet!  In this class we will create a 'Junk Journal' - bringing together all your ephemera to make a visually interesting background for some marvellous moths and beautiful butterflies.  A perfect way to banish the white page and have some fun!
 

We’ll add flaps, windows, and pockets to expand our journal, paint and stencil some of our pages to alter and distress them, and bind it all together with some simple techniques.
 

Then we’ll use a combination of watercolour or acrylics, coloured pencils, dip pens (and anything else we have to hand!) to create a collection of images – some bright and bold to cut out and collage, and some fine line drawings as a delicate contrast.  Add some little labels and hand-written text to compliment your images as a finishing touch.
 

No experience needed - just a willingness to play with your materials and enjoy the process.  Either work along with Karen during some parts of the session or just watch and follow the demos again in your own time.
