Forming part of our ever popular Art Cities series, Martin takes a look at the many outstanding collections of art in the city of Liverpool. This talk looks at the rich legacy of National Liverpool Museums including The Walker Art Gallery, The Lady Lever Art Gallery, and other important art locations on Merseyside.
The collections contain works of art of international importance as well as local significance. Being an important seaport some work connects it with other cultures and artistic expressions which are still a part of the contemporary world.
This talk particularly focuses on the outstanding nineteenth century collections of visual art which are among the richest in Britain. The talk shows why Liverpool is a great destination for all who enjoy visual art.
Martin will provide a list of helpful books and links to further explore on a PDF following each of the talks via the class information page.
