In this creative, sensory workshop, you’ll invite the hidden hues of blossoms, petals, and kitchen botanicals into cloth through the eco-friendly art of bundle dyeing. Your hand-dyed fabric will then be paired with paper and raffia yarns as you learn the expressive, organic rhythm of random-weave basketry.

Together, these elements will become a one-of-a-kind vessel—part keepsake, part celebration of nature’s warmth and renewal. Using moulds, we’ll intertwine yarns and your hand-dyed fabric to form open-weave basket structures: vessels designed to gently catch and hold Spring’s first light.

Skills & Techniques Covered

  • Learn the fundamentals of bundle dyeing with flowers, leaves, and botanical materials
  • Explore natural pigment behaviour and experiment with colour placement and pattern
  • Develop an understanding of how different natural fibres and materials interact in dyeing and weaving
  • Practice the basics of random-weave basketry to open-weave structures
  • Use moulds to shape and support sculptural woven forms
  • Combine mixed materials—dyed fabric, paper yarns, and raffia—to create textured woven vessels
  • Strengthen sensory awareness through working with colour, texture, and natural elements
  • Build confidence in creative decision-making and designing your own unique vessel

Materials are not included in the booking fee. All materials will be provided by the tutor. The approximate cost of these will be £10, payable to the tutor during the workshop
