This class is aimed at students who can already knit confidently with two yarns. It is not a 'how to knit' class but rather an exploration of how to approach colour selection for successful patterns in Stranded Colorwork.
We are delighted to welcome back Mary Jane Mucklestone, American knitwear designer, author, and former co-editor of Vogue Knitting. Considered one of the foremost experts in colorwork, this is a fantastic opportunity to learn from one of the best!
Using colour is lots of fun — but it can be a big fear for many. Join Mary Jane as she shares the magic of tried and tested methods for choosing colours for successful stranded colorwork. Exploring its traditional uses will take some of the mystery out of colour selection and open your eyes to new colour relationships.
Over the course of the three classes, we'll take a look at Mary Jane's real life contemporary examples and discuss the techniques employed in traditional Fair Isle knitting to simplify the mystery of colorwork. We will also spend time exploring the artist's colour wheel and demonstrate how it can assist in impactful colour selection.
There will be elements of work-along throughout the classes as we create swatches and turn them into useful items. Each class will include step-by-step tutor demonstrations and there will be simple homework tasks for all students to complete. Patterns will be provided!
The three-part format allows you time between classes to put into practice the concepts presented. Mary Jane will encourage you to share your individual projects as we progress through the course, offering her advice and wisdom on how you can use Stranded Colorwork for the best impact and results.
