This ONLINE class is suitable for students of all abilities.

In this gel plate printing class we will focus on printing papers to use in collage projects.  The class is suitable for every level of experience, whether you are brand new to gel plate printing or have already had a go but you are looking for some new ideas.

The gel plate is a fantastic base for making one off prints. Originally made from gelatine (hence the name) they offer a firm but squishy surface that releases acrylic paints beautifully to make very striking prints. There are many different ways of making designs for printing and the process is very fast (and very addictive!) and a great way to build up a stash of collage papers.

We will start with an introduction to the tools and materials. Then we will use some simple gel plate printing techniques to create a batch of decorated papers which we can cut up for collage.

Janina will then take you through a series of collage based projects using these gel printed papers, other decorative papers, and washi tape.  The projects will include black line collage, cut paper collage, and the “5 by 5 collage challenge”.
